David Hockney Retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum

Page Knox, Adjunct Professor, Art History Department, Columbia University, New York City; Contractual Lecturer for the Education Department, Metropolitan Museum of Art

The lecture focuses on the major monographic exhibition of the work of British artist David Hockney as he approaches his 80th birthday. The exhibit will be coming to the MetropolitanMuseum in November of 2017 and will celebrate Hockney’s achievement in painting, drawing, print, photography and video. Hockney’s work is one of the great landmarks of the post-modernist movement and the lecture explores the nature of picture and picture-making as Hockney challenged conventions throughout his career.
