A copiously illustrated presentation touching on the greatest talents in American fashion of the twentieth century, from couture level designers such as Charles James, Mainbocher, and Ralph Rucci to the top ready to wear designers: James Galanos, Norman Norell, Pauline Trigere, Mary McFadden, Geoffrey Beene, Bill Blass, Calvin Klein and Halston. Also included will be innovators in sport and resort wear such as Claire McCardell, Rudi Gernreich, Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer and Tory Birch along with the great American women of style.
