On Monday, December 1, 2025, at The Bruce Museum, Greenwich, CT, 1:00 pm-2:30 pm, the Greenwich Decorative Arts Society presents "75 Years of Collecting at Winterthur: Expanding the Collection with Innovative Inspiration ”, a lecture by Alexandra Deutsch, John L. and Marjorie P. McGraw Director of Collections, Winterthur Museum.
During this richly illustrated lecture, Alexandra Deutsch will reflect on Winterthur's collection over its 75-year history as a museum. Considering furniture, ceramics, paintings, textiles and more, this talk will highlight some of the museum's most iconic works and showcase some lesser known but extraordinary objects in the collection. The lecture will also include furniture soon to be featured in Winterthur's "Challenging Masterpieces" furniture exhibition, opening September 2026. Her talk will also explore how generations of curators, students, conservators, and scholars have continued to discover the stories within one of the nation's greatest assemblages of American decorative arts.
Alexandra Deutsch, a graduate of Vassar College and the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture, is the John L. and Marjorie P. McGraw Director of Collections at the Winterthur Museum. She leads Winterthur’s Collections and Interpretation Division which oversees all collections related programming and activities, as well as the museum’s public programming.
